Like all HDTVs from Toshiba, the 32L1400U features Dynalight backlight control technology, which adds intensity to "blacks" and selectively reduces the intensity of "whites" or brighter areas to give the picture a more balanced, life-like appearance.
Toshiba's DynaLight dynamic backlight control utilizes an advanced histogram
technology to monitor the brightness of each video frame and
automatically adjust backlight intensity based on the image being displayed.

standard definition 480i, 480p and 576i. By default, the 32L1400U upscales the lower resolution picture to 720p. The Native mode instead scales lower resolution video content to display the entire picture within
